With SJCE You Get Clean Energy and Competitive Rates.
Your electricity will be more carbon free and your rates will be 1% below PG&E. You’ll see three different charges on your bill—you can compare them in the rate chart below.
Sample large commercial cost comparison*
*Based on a typical commercial usage of 248,971 kWh and monthly demand of 618 kW under the E-19S Time of Use rate schedule at current PG&E rates, and the SJCE rates effective November 15, 2019. Actual costs will vary depending on usage and other factors. This estimate is an average of seasonal rates. The PG&E renewable energy content is in the Annual Report to the California Energy Commission Power Source Disclosure Program in June 2018.
WHAT ARE THESE CHARGES FOR?
This pays for your source of power and how much electricity you’re using. Your rate will vary, depending on the type of service you choose: GreenSource, TotalGreen or PG&E service.
PG&E Added Fees
PG&E does add a fee for SJCE customers to your bill, called the Power Charge Indifference Adjustment but also known as the PCIA or “exit fee.” The PCIA is meant to ensure that SJCE customers pay the difference between what PG&E paid for power contracted to serve them prior to their switch and its current market value. As shown in the chart above, SJCE GreenSource service is still cheaper than PG&E, even with the added fees.
PG&E still delivers your electricity on existing power lines and maintains the lines. The PG&E delivery rates are the same for everyone.
Calculate Your Costs and Savings
Use our savings worksheet and your latest electricity bill to compare what you would be paying per month for PG&E electricity generation service to what you are paying for SJCE generation service. GreenSource customers will see a 1% savings, while TotalGreen customers will see a small premium.
